Garden 2011 - Front (Victoria)

Off to a late start this year, like everyone else, thanks to a long, cool spring. Things are warming up and it's planting time!

This years garden was less then stellar - a slow start due to prolonged, cool spring, and too much going on this summer to devote a lot of attention to it. The season wrapped up earlier than expected in mid-September due to travel plans off the Island.

June 20 - planted carrot and lettuce seeds and transplanted tomatoes, peppers, broccoli. The garlic and strawberries planted last fall are now doing well.

June 20 - many herbs from last year overwintered nicely and are now being harvested.

August 2, 2011 - Tomatoes are starting to really grow.

August 2, 2011 - Everbearing strawberries ensure a nice supply of strawberries from June until September. All are from last years berries.

August 2, 2011 - Broccolli

August 2, 2011 - Nasturtiums add flavour and colour to salads and make the bees happy.
